A very happy St Michael’s Day to everyone in our school community.

I would like to take this opportunity to give a special mention to Mr Knaggs, who will be taking up the role of Acting Deputy Principal for the coming year. A huge thank you to him for all his hard work, support and commitment to the school and, in particular, to TY.

I would also like to warmly welcome our new Transition Year Head, Ms Delaney. Looking forward to working together with everyone throughout the year and making this TY programme as successful, enjoyable and memorable as possible.

Killary Adventure Trip

A huge well done to all the boys who took part in the Killary Adventure Trip. It was a fantastic few days, and we hope everyone came away with some great memories and experiences.

Killary really is a memorable place, and it was no surprise to see Killary Fjord named by Lonely Planet last week as one of the top destinations on the planet to visit.

Well done to everyone for getting involved, embracing the activities and making the most of the trip.

TY International Trips: First Round of Offers

The Beijing trip lottery results have been published on Google Classroom. Please check the list carefully. I will also be posting a copy of the list on the TY Office window on Tuesday.

I will be in contact with parents early next week with details on how to secure places by paying the required booking deposit.

Please remember that all offers are conditional on maintaining your TY points above the required threshold throughout the year.

What Happens Next?

We will now make offers based on first preferences (and second preferences for the 31 students from the Beijing draw who did not receive an offer), where places are available for the other trips.

As of now, the Boston trip is oversubscribed, so a further lottery will be held to allocate places.

The Immersion Trip will be decided through an interview process, as is the established process for this trip.

Results will be posted on Google Classroom as soon as each round of the process is complete.

Please Read Carefully - Accepting Offers

Our process is modelled on the CAO system.

If you turn down an offer, that place will be passed to the next student in line. You will then only be considered for trips that still have places available after other students have been placed.

You will not automatically move to your next preference. Please think carefully before accepting or declining an offer.

If you have any questions, please call into the TY Office when you see me there, or email me to arrange a meeting.

4.1 First Aid Course

The certified Life First Aid course will take place on Tuesday, 29 September.

Students should meet at the Assembly Hall door at 9:25am for a full day of First Aid training.

Dress code: Students do not need to wear school uniform for the First Aid course.

Please be on time and ready for the full-day course.

4.2 Driving Lessons

4.2 will be taking part in driving lessons on Thursday.

Students MUST bring a fully charged personal device, either a laptop or iPad (NOT a phone), for the second half of the session.

Dress code: School uniform is not required. Please dress warmly, as a large portion of the day will be spent outside.

Please note that if you do not have a suitable device with you, you will not be able to take part in the driving lessons.

The meeting point will be confirmed on Google Classroom next week.

Activities Week: 5–9 October

Activities Week will take place from Monday, 5 October to Friday, 9 October.

The activities for each class are:

Work Placement Form – Deadline Friday, 2 October

I will be sharing a Work Placement Form on the 4.1 and 4.4 Google Classrooms on Tuesday and it is compulsory that this is completed ASAP and no later than Friday, 2 October.

If you are having any issues securing a work placement, please get in touch with me immediately so that we can address the issue.
